Acceptable Use Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective June 9, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses the Tarren Service. It is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service. Violating this AUP is a material breach of the Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination. In short: don't break the law, don't hurt people, don't break Tarren, and don't abuse the trust other participants in your meetings place in you.
1. You may not record or transcribe in violation of law
This includes:
- recording or transcribing a conversation without obtaining the consents required by the law of every applicable jurisdiction, including all-party-consent state law (CA, CT, FL, IL, MD, MA, MT, NH, OR, PA, WA), GDPR Article 6 lawful basis for EU/UK participants, and any applicable contract or court order;
- recording any conversation under court order, gag order, sequestration order, or similar restriction;
- recording any conversation involving a person you know or should know is a minor without parental consent; or
- recording any conversation you are not entitled to participate in.
2. You may not use the Service for protected health information
Until Tarren publicly announces HIPAA mode and you affirmatively enable it on a Workspace:
- do not record, transcribe, store, share, or process any Protected Health Information as defined under HIPAA;
- do not record patient-clinician conversations;
- do not upload medical records, prescriptions, lab results, or insurance claims as documents; and
- do not paste medical information into the Ask-Tarren conversational agent.
This restriction also applies to analogous health-information categories under non-U.S. law (for example, GDPR Article 9 special categories, the UK Data Protection Act, and Brazil's LGPD).
3. You may not use the Service for privileged or confidential conversations without authority
- Do not record attorney-client, doctor-patient, clergy, executive-session, or otherwise privileged conversations unless every privilege-holder has consented and you have considered whether use of the Service may waive that privilege.
- Do not record or share any conversation you are bound by an NDA, confidentiality agreement, employment agreement, or trade-secret obligation not to disclose.
- Do not record any conversation in violation of an export-control restriction or classified-information rule.
4. You may not use the Service for illegal, harmful, or abusive purposes
You will not use the Service to:
- plan, commit, or facilitate any illegal activity;
- threaten, harass, defame, dox, intimidate, or stalk any person;
- generate or distribute child sexual abuse material; we report any such material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement;
- generate non-consensual intimate imagery;
- engage in fraud, impersonation, or identity theft;
- promote or facilitate self-harm or suicide;
- generate election disinformation, deepfakes intended to deceive, or content designed to manipulate public opinion through impersonation; or
- discriminate against, or facilitate discrimination against, any person on the basis of a protected characteristic.
5. You may not abuse the platform technically
You will not:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the Service, except as expressly permitted by law;
- bypass any rate limit, quota, license check, or access control;
- use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to extract data from the Service;
- test the Service for vulnerabilities without prior written authorization (security researchers may contact andrewkidd@betterflow.ai to coordinate responsible disclosure);
- submit, transmit, or generate malware, viruses, ransomware, worms, time bombs, or other malicious code;
- use the Service to send unsolicited messages or spam; or
- resell access to the Service, except as expressly permitted under a Business or Enterprise plan.
6. You may not abuse the AI
You will not:
- try to extract proprietary system prompts, training data, or internal instructions from the AI;
- bypass safety guardrails by prompt injection, jailbreaking, role-play impersonation, or similar;
- use the AI to generate prohibited content listed in Section 4; or
- use the AI to produce legal, medical, financial, or other advice that you then present to a third party as professional advice without independent professional review.
7. Sharing and recipient conduct
If you share Content with a recipient under Tarren's sharing feature:
- you are responsible for the disclosure (see Terms of Service §7);
- you may not share Content the recipient is not entitled to receive (for example, under an NDA, privilege, or law-enforcement gag order); and
- you may not use sharing to transmit prohibited content.
If you receive Content from another user:
- you may not re-share it, screenshot-and-redistribute it, or otherwise circumvent the sharing system, except with the explicit permission of the original sender and any other privilege-holders; and
- you will treat received Content with at least the same level of confidentiality as the sender.
8. Reporting abuse
If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, please report it to andrewkidd@betterflow.ai. We investigate every report and may take action including content removal, account suspension, account termination, and (where appropriate) reporting to law enforcement.
9. Enforcement
We may, at our discretion:
- warn you of a violation and require remediation;
- suspend your access pending investigation;
- terminate your Account immediately and without refund for serious or repeated violations;
- cooperate with law enforcement if we believe a violation involves criminal conduct or imminent harm; and
- preserve evidence of violations as part of our audit log, per our Privacy Policy retention rules.
We are not obligated to monitor use of the Service, but we reserve the right to investigate any reported or suspected violation.
10. Changes to this AUP
We may update this AUP. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance, except where a shorter timeline is needed to address active abuse, security incidents, or legal compliance.
